Duck Commander Family Book Review

We are one of those families that tries to pick carefully what our kids watch on TV. When we started hearing about this new-to-us A&E series called Duck Dynasty, we were a little skeptical that a series with these burly, bearded guys that talk about duck hunting could become a family favorite in our house. I have to admit being a little nervous watching the first episode or two. I was in for a Happy Happy, Happy Surprise. Duck Dynasty has become one of our family favorites. It was a no-brainer decision to order the Duck Commander Family Book for both me and my husband to read this past week.

Duck Commander Family Book

The founder of Duck Commander is Phil Robertson and his wife Kay. Their life has not been smooth or easy. Their success today is not because they’ve been lucky; instead, they are a living example of how faith, love, committment and hard work can take you from the absolute bottom to soaring high as one of Louisiana’s top families.

I loved the honesty and transparency that Willie and his wife Korie offer in The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks Built a Dynasty. They show the hardships that brought Phil and Kay to where they are today. They are parents just like us and even though they are incredibly rich now, they are still raising their children day to day just like we are. I would love to have the chance to talk with Korie Robertson and trade stories about the joys of working from home juggling babies, toddlers, business calls and trying to maintain a semblance of a clean house.

5 Reasons we Love Duck Dynasty on A&E

  1. The Robertson family is not perfect…. but they are committed to their faith.
  2. The family members don’t always agree…but they always work out their differences because they know the value of family relationships.
  3. The TV episodes make us laugh.  Who doesn’t laugh when Uncle Si pulls his antics.
  4. We don’t have to worry about any of the family members using ‘words we don’t use in our house’.
  5. The kids are taught to be respectful and work hard.
I love the fact that you can catch former episode clips on the A&E website.  Just click to watch the Duck Dynasty episode clips for FREE.

We can’t wait till the next season starts this year! Have you read the book? Watched the series on A&E? What do you think? I’d love to hear your favorite Duck Dynasty Episode!

My friend Jen is talking about another popular TV series, Downtown Abbey. That’s one I haven’t seen yet, but am curious about. I’m heading over to see what she thinks about that series!

We purchased this book because we were excited to read it. We did not received a free copy for the purpose of this review.

Spread the love
