Rival Hearts Book Review
What would you do to get a promotion at work? Would you try something completely out of your comfort zone in order to get the boss’s approval? Would you learn to kayak? Take up quilting? For Molly Henderson and Ben Weaver, this is their assignment. Both want the promotion to chief editor, but they have to prove themselves. Rival Hearts is a fun read that puts the competitive spirit of each of the characters against their growing attraction.
Rival Hearts Book Review
Rival Hearts is another book in the Quilts of Love series. Each of the books in this series uses a quilt to tell the story. The series is as diverse as the quilts they represent: the story is of the underground railroad, a war torn bride and groom, a community that is rebuilding after a tornado. I think that is one of the reasons I love this series.
Quilts tell such a story of a person’s life. In Rival Hearts, Molly is working on a quilt to tell the stories of the women who read her magazine. Each of the pieces of fabric are part of a reader’s history. She’s on track to finish on time, but then the editor throws her a curve. In order to get the promotion, she has to step in to the role of outdoors expert and become a master at kayaking.
Ben, on the other hand, is an expert at outdoor sports. His challenge is to learn to quilt. They both have a competitive nature and neither want to lose. When their hearts get involved, the challenge takes on a new twist they never expected.
Molly Henderson and Ben Weaver have been rival magazine writers for the same publishing group for years. When both come up for the same promotion, they find themselves in an unexpected competition to win the spot. Molly, editor of Quilter’s Heart, and Ben, editor of Outdoor Adventures, must switch roles, each working for the other for one month, then submit an article at the end of their quests. Can girly-girl Molly survive the outdoor adventures that Ben has planned? Can Ben navigate the perils of the social dynamics of quilting events without destroying a valuable quilt in one short month? More importantly, in this he-said, she-said situation, will Molly and Ben give in to their attraction and fall in love, no matter who wins?
