Twelve Unlikely Heroes Book Review
We’ve all heard of the Famous Heroes of the Bible: Abraham, Noah, Mary, Paul and Joseph. But God doesn’t always use the ‘greats’, many times God decides to use the unlikely individuals that society sometimes overlooks. Twelve Unlikely Heroes: How God Commissioned Unexpected People in the Bible and What He Wants to Do with You is a book that looks at some of the people in the Bible who we don’t hear much about. How many know the story of Onesimus or Mark?
Twelve Unlikely Heroes
Each chapter focuses on another Unlikely Hero and gives you background on their life. You see their flaws, hear their excuses and come to realize that if God can use them, then there’s hope for me. This book would be a great daily devotional or a weekly group study.
All my life I’ve heard that God doesn’t just use the gifted. This is another book that reinforces that.
About the Book
In Twelve Unlikely Heroes, pastor and best-selling author John MacArthur uses his deep knowledge of the Bible and history to take us back to see these three-dimensional men and women in their own times and cultures. In doing so, it becomes clear how their dramatic stories apply to us today. People who might at first seem foreign quickly become familiar and unforgettable—particularly as they reveal the true Hero behind every witness, the power counterbalancing every weakness, “the Author and Finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1).
I received a copy of this book from Tommy Nelson for the purpose of the review .
