Diaper Cakes and Gender Reveal Parties

Having a baby is an exciting time of life. Everything about pregnancy is new and exciting. Well, not everything. I can still remember looking for the closest trashcan every time I entered a room or carrying around a plastic bag for the inevitable morning sickness that never went away. But, there are many things about preparing for a new baby that are fun. Diaper Cakes and gender reveal parties are an exciting part of getting ready to bring home baby.

Diaper Cakes and Gender Reveal Parties

All my life, when my Mom has gone to a baby shower, she would make a diaper cake. So when I was pregnant with my first baby, I was excited to receive one myself! Diaper cakes have gotten really fancy, but the basic concept remains the same. You simply take the cloth diapers and roll or form them into a cake shape. Baby socks can be used for the roses and little burp cloths or little stuffed animals for the decorations.

I did some searching found some really fancy diaper cakes and wreaths. Here’s a few idea to get you started:

Gender Reveal Parties

Another exciting trend for many expectant parents is having a gender reveal party. When I was pregnant, we didn’t do anything special to announce the gender of our new baby. In fact, we wouldn’t even tell anyone our baby name choices. We decided that we wanted that to be the big surprise. My husband and I officially picked my oldest son’s name as I was being wheeled down the hall for my c-section. The grandparents were thrilled to be introduced to the newest grandbaby when my husband announced his name.

But some people are doing gender reveal parties where the cake tells whether there’s going to be a girl or boy.
