One Thing Every Teen Needs

If you were to ask me what the one most important thing every teen needs, I would have an easy answer. They need access to a good Bible. Over the years, when our kids have had questions about God, the Bible, or life in general, we’ve been able to give them the resources they need and with two preacher granddads, we have been able to help them work through the questions.

We’ve had access to good commentaries like Wilmington’s Guide to the Bible and the Old and New Testament Commentaries that were and are still just one minute away on our living room shelves.

Then we have always made sure that each of them has a good Bible. In recent years, we have also provided a solid study Bible that helps guide them through life when questions come up, and we’re not around.

Now that we no longer have teenagers in the house, though, we are focused on making sure other teens that are in our lives have the right resources and a good study Bible.

As a parent or concerned adult, if you have a high school-aged teenager, check out school-based resources like Young Life, FCA, or First Priority. If they live in a college town, they may even find a college friend who can invite them to worship events in the area.

When teens have questions, we need to provide the best resources that help them discover and deepen their relationship with God.

God gives us clear instruction that we should “Study to show ourselves approved unto God” and have the older generations teach the younger generations. Let’s do our part to help these new teenagers have the resources and opportunities to grow their faith.
