Do you remember the 2009 movie featuring Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side? In this “based on a real life story” movie, the Tuohy family takes in a teenager and makes him part of their family. The movie is an amazing look at the impact one person can have on another person. I found this Warner Bros. movie in the discount movie pallet at our local Walmart last weekend and knew this was a perfect movie to share with my family on movie night. And of course everyone knows that for a movie night, you need a quick Peanut Butter Popcorn & M&M’s® snack.
Peanut Butter Popcorn & M&M’s® Family Movie Night
The first week of school, our family underwent a huge move. We changed houses, schools, cities and networks. In the past 3 1/2 months we have come to feel that this new house is truly our home. One of the neat things about moving to this area is the chance for our kids to get to know some extended family members better. They have truly made our transition easier by welcoming us over to their house, taking us around the area and introducing us to some of the local businesses.
We decided we should take them a little gift to say thanks! While I was in Walmart this past weekend, I found a great selection of WB Movies in a discount pallet at the front of the store. These movies were priced at $5 for DVD and $7.88 for BRD! That’s a great price! There were some classic family favorites like Forrest Gump, The Notebook and the Harry Potter Movies, and of course, The Blind Side – all on discount for $5.00 each!
You all know how much I love the yellow, peanut M&Ms, so I grabbed several of those plus the other variety boxes of M&M’s® and some Orville Redenbachers popcorn! I knew these would be perfect for snacking our way through a great movie!
How to make the Peanut Butter Popcorn M&M’s® Snack
This is probably the easiest snack you can ever make! Just melt the peanut butter, pop the Orville Redenbocker Popcorn ,and mix in the M&M’s®. Chill in the refrigerator and then spoon into individual containers.

- M&M’s® (as many as you want to add)
- Melt the peanut butter
- Pop the popcorn
- Pour the melted peanut butter over the popcorn
- Stir in M&Ms
- Spread over a cookie tray
- Chill in refrigerator
- Enjoy
About our Family Movie
Do you know the story behind The Blind Side movie? Leigh Anne Tuohy is an inspiration to each of us. She saw a need and took action. I want my life to make an impact on those around me. Maybe you will need to friend a teenager who needs a family like the Tuohy’s did in the movie or maybe your impact will be something as simple as volunteering to help 2nd graders learn to read. Sometimes the small things like taking a popcorn snack to an uncle and saying thanks are all that is needed to help teach our kids that the little things make a difference.
This is one of the best lines of the whole movie:
A friend says to Leigh Anne: “I think what you’re doing is so great. You’re changing that boy’s life”
She responds: “No, he’s changing mine!”
