Are your kids bored this summer? Are they ready for something new to explore and create? Here is a book that is guaranteed to give your kids some fun new projects for the hot summer days. Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction: Build Implements of Spitball Warfare is full of fun ideas for creating homemade miniature weapons. My son and I have built a homemade catapult, coin shooter and now a clothes hanger slingshot.

Gather your materials:

4 rubberbands
1 Metal hanger
Duct Tape
Piece of fabric
Scissors

Bend the clothes hanger to create the Y shape.

Use duct tape to secure the shape of the hanger. We put the tape in several places to help it stay in the shape my son liked. We even taped around the sharp edge.

Cut the fabric into a small rectangle shape. (We cut it approximately 3″ x 6″). Cut 2 small slits on each end so you can thread 2 rubberbands through the holes.

Loop the other 2 rubberbands around the hanger and then connect them with the fabric rubberbands.

Now you have a perfect slingshot for shooting berries or ping pong balls. Obviously, this is not something you want to let kids play with around pets or other children. We made sure there was no one out in the area where the berries would be flying.

Have you or your kids ever made a homemade slingshot? Got any great stories to share? I’d love to hear!
