We have been tracking our toilet paper usage for the past 30 days! Back on the first day of January, I asked the question of how much toilet paper does a family unit need for 30 days? There are so many variables that play into this question. How big is the roll? How many members in the family? Is the toilet paper ultra thick? Are you having guests? The questions go on and on. But I was challenged to find out on average what our family unit of 5 needs to keep us stocked for a month. Ready for our results?
How much toilet paper does a family need?
We chose to do the easiest option for our family. Each time we finished a roll of toilet paper, we tossed the empty cardboard tube under the sink. It wasn’t exactly the neatest or most efficient option but it worked for us. I gathered all the empty rolls and counted them up!
Drum roll please…….
Our family of 5 used 27 rolls of toilet paper in our 30 day challenge. Now, there may have been a few rolls that got tossed by accident over the course of the 30 days, but this gives me a starting point so I can know approximately how many rolls I need to have on hand for emergency weather situations.
Now that I have all these empty rolls of toilet paper, there are 2 things I know.
- I need to make sure I have at least 27 rolls always stored back so we will never run out!
- I need to find something pretty cool to do with these empty rolls of toilet paper. Now I will admit that I already have a cool idea as to what I’m going to do with these cardboard tubes, but I’m open to suggestions. Feel free to give me some ideas for how I should use this box of empty toilet paper rolls!
Have you been counting your family’s usage this month as well? How many did you discover that you need to keep your family prepared for a month? I’d love to hear!
