How to make a link NoFollow in Squarespace
If you know me very well at all, then you know that one of my hobbies is blogging. I love learning new things; figuring out how to solve problems online and helping others find solutions. Today I had a situation come up and I didn’t know the answer. So I did what I always do when I don’t know an answer to a problem. I did an internet search to find the answer. And then of course, I blogged about it so I could share the answer with someone else who might need this same information!
Making links nofollow is one of the most important things we have to do as bloggers when it comes to sponsored posts. Neglecting to mark a link nofollow can lead to penalties from Google – and we all know that as as blogger we don’t want to have Google blacklist our site.
A friend of mine is using a platform to build her site called Squarespace. When she told me that it was impossible to mark a link nofollow in a paragraph on this blogging platform, I knew I had to find out if I could do it!
How to make a link nofollow in Squarespace
I created a trial account so I could test this out. But I know absolutely nothing else about Squarespace.
I created a simple basic post and started typing in the text space.
If you create a basic paragraph, you can not do a nofollow link. There is no option to change your exisiting paragraph to nofollow. With this version of Squarespace you can’t even access the html text editor. BUT you can copy and paste your text into a new Content Block and be able to write in html!
I copied my exisiting line of text and then clicked on the small bubble icon to the left of the text box. That allows you to choose a Content block.
Select the Content Block: Markdown
This will open a box on the right side of your screen where you can paste in your paragraph of text and add in the nofollow tag.
Have you ever used Squarespace? Got any tips to make the nofollow tags easier? I’d love to hear!
