MAKE Paducah: Explore your Creative Side
Many of you are like me and don’t see yourself as particularly crafty or artsy. But that doesn’t mean that we should ignore the creative side of our personality. Recently, our family took the time to go to MAKE Paducah art studio and get creative. We picked out paint and individual art projects and spent some time playing with paint and using our imaginations. If you are looking for a unique activity for coworkers, birthday party or girls night, then a day at an art studio may be just what you are looking for.

MAKE Paducah: Explore your Creative Side
When we started thinking about our art session for the family, several of us mentioned that we really don’t feel that we are crafty people. But the thing I learned from our experience at MAKE Paducah is that you don’t need to be artistic to enjoy this activity. Each class has a resident expert who can steer you in the right direction and will help you pick out the right paint, glue and materials needed.
Creativity and imagination are two essential parts of our lives that we sometimes forget to focus on. We get busy with the daily chores and tasks of life and don’t allow ourselves time to explore the creative side of our brain.
Pick Your Project
MAKE studio offers lots of options to help you get creative. You can pick small projects like door signs, picture frames or jewery boxes or opt for something a little larger. If you get stuck and need ideas, feel free to ask. There will be someone in your class or in the shop who will have ideas to help you get started.
Take your time and sift through the choices. Interested in a pallet sign or a wreath for your front door? There are plenty of sizes and choices! Need some letters or pieces to add to your creation? Sure! Those are available too!
Once you pick out your project, it’s time to decide on paint colors.
I love that MAKE doesn’t toss your unused paint. They keep the little containers of paint and let children use them for art class! No waste here!
And of course, don’t forget to don a work apron that is available to help you keep your clothes clean and free of paint.
Imitation is the best form of flattery when it comes to these art classes. Look around and get inspired to create something based on what others are doing or have on display. You might find that your masterpiece is looking good but needs a little touch of something that you see on one of the display pieces.

Wow! This really looks like fun. I found myself wishing I were there with you. This is a “must-go” for me!
Was there a session fee? Very pricey?
Here is the information on fees and project prices:
“During open-studio time, everyone can choose what they would like to create (pricing per project + studio fee). Average project prices range from $10-$30 per surface, studio fee is $6. During Regular MAKE hours (W-F 10-5, Sat. 10-2), simple drop in & create. If you have a larger group (more than 6), let us know you are coming & we will reserve tables for you. 270-201-2474 or makepaducah@yahoo.com”
If you are interested in more details, I would suggest calling the studio to talk to Kayla or the owner. They were really helpful and made the experience great!
