Travel Adventures & Farm Days

I’ve always loved to travel, and my travel dreams have taken me to 46 states so far. I’m looking forward to checking off the last four on my list. Over the years, we’ve explored by car, stopped at quirky roadside attractions, discovered hidden gems, and made some unforgettable memories along the way.

But even though I enjoy the road, I also love being home. There’s something steady about working in the garden, planting flowers, and getting ready for canning season. This time of year, I’m usually outside pulling weeds or watching the plants take off. Life on the farm has a rhythm that I wouldn’t trade, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped thinking about travel.

A Simple Way to Mark the Map

I recently bought a U.S. map sticker that I added to the cover of my laptop. It’s the kind where you color in the states you’ve visited. It may be a small thing, but it’s fun to have a visual reminder of all the places we’ve been.

If you get one, use a permanent marker so the color won’t smear the first time you close your laptop or bump it.

Now, every time I open my computer, I get a little reminder of the adventures we’ve taken—and the ones still to come. It’s not fancy, but it’s meaningful to me.

Everyday Clothes That Say Something

When I’m home, I’m usually in jeans and a T-shirt. Whether I’m pulling weeds in the garden or canning vegetables in the kitchen, I want to be comfortable. But that doesn’t mean I can’t still wear something that reminds me of our travel adventures.

Lately, I’ve found a few travel-themed shirts on Etsy that are perfect. One has a US map with Bible verse references and character qualities. Another one celebrates the love for my home state – Kentucky – in red, white and blue! And of course, I love my red shirt with long stem flowers! They’re soft, practical, and just enough to show my love for travel without being over the top.

Bringing Both Worlds Together

Just because I’m not out exploring right now doesn’t mean I’ve left that part of me behind. Whether it’s a sticker on my computer or a shirt I pull on before heading outside, I’ve found ways to keep both sides of my life in view.

For anyone who loves to travel but also finds joy in staying home, there’s room for both. You don’t have to choose. You can be a homebody who loves to work on the farm at the same time as loving travel and adventure!

Spread the love
