Super Easy Christmas Fabric Gift Bags
I’ve been having so much fun using my sewing machine and finding beginner-friendly fabric projects to create. One of my recent projects was these simple Christmas fabric gift bags. These little bags are fun to make with scrap Christmas fabric that I found at one of the estate sales earlier this summer. Now I am hooked and need to make more so I’ll be ready for the holiday season.

There are many tutorials on YouTube for making fabric drawstring gift bags, but I decided to just make the easiest version I could think of. Are they perfect? Not particularly, but honestly, no one will ever even notice the imperfections that I see so clearly.
Materials Needed
- Scraps of Christmas-themed fabric
- Sewing Machine
- Thread
- Scissors
- Ribbon of choice
Directions
- Gather your random pieces of Christmas-themed fabric. I used random pieces that I found at an estate sale earlier this summer.
- Cut twice the size you want your finished gift bag to be.
- Iron a double fold on each of the fabric pieces. This will be where you thread your ribbon for the draw string.
- Place right sides together and sew along the three sides. Remember to leave a place at the top under the folded section so you can thread your ribbon through.
- Turn right side out and use a safety pin to thread your ribbon through the top slit.
Now repeat as many times as you want. You could even make year-round gift bags by using neutral fabric.
Now that I’ve made a few and realize how quick they are, I think I’ll be making more fabric gift bags to get me ready for the Christmas season.
