Spring Hike & Picnic: Pack Smart, Adventure More!
It may be too cold to hike or enjoy a traditional picnic, but now is the best time to plan and squeeze in some spring hikes. I’ve got my eye on a hiking trail with a rustic bench at the end that is perfect for a spring picnic. The trail winds down a hill around a spring and through the cedar trees so it’s impractical to carry a standard cooler or bulky lunch container, but I’ve got some easy tips to help you prep for the perfect spring hike and picnic.

Guide to a Perfect Spring Hike & Picnic
One of the most important parts of any picnic is the food, right? But how do you pack food when you plan to eat at the long of a hike through the woods? The answer is easy. You carry everything in a backpack cooler. You need something lightweight to keep cold food and everything safely secured. The Titan Backpack Cooler has zip pockets for ice packs so you don’t have ice cubes that can fall out or thaw and get your food all wet. Plus, there are side and front pockets for everything you need for a satisfying lunch after a good hike.

Food & Drinks
There are many great food options for a standard picnic, but when planning a hike first, there are a few things to consider. Typical sandwich bread would get smashed, chips would get broken and granola bars are just a bit boring. Instead, consider turkey wraps, bags of grapes, and charcuterie-style snack boxes.
- Don’t forget toothpicks for small finger foods like olives and grapes.
- Pack cloth napkins to make the picnic feel fancy and minimize trash.
Another important thing to take on a hike is water, so don’t forget to pack water for your picnic, too. The Titan Backpack has two side pouches that are the perfect size for a tall metal thermos filled with water for the hike in and out as well as your lunch at the halfway point.

Waterproof Blanket
The ground can be cold and damp in spring so pack a waterproof blanket. Pick a backpack cooler that has bungee cords to hold the blanket while you are taking your hike in and out of the woods.

This past weekend we had a few minutes of almost beautiful weather so I was excited to take a mini hike down to the bench. Now that I’ve tested the backpack cooler and confirmed that it is the perfect tote for our next hike, I can’t wait for the rain and snow to clear so I can get out again!
