Men’s Gear for Spring Outdoor Adventures
Muckboots
Spring is a muddy time of year so make sure you have the right boots. I have had my muckster boots for several years and have used them in every season. This year we made sure the rest of the family also had their own Muck Boots so crossing the creek or working in the garden is not a problem.
Layered Vest
The weather can be unpredicable in spring, so layer up. A vest is a great addition to your outdoor plan. When the morning starts off cool you can zip up and stay warm and then unzip and breathe more as you go through the day.
Castaway Mens Vest has a durable nylon shell designed to perform on all of your adventures, and in all weather conditions. The Wind Vest has a super soft fleece interior and is perfect for Spring and Fall days on the water. Our favorite Grey, with classic navy trims.
Flashlight
Our family loves to go out exploring in the backyard after dark so a good flashlight is a must. We have flashlights of every size and strength around the house but when it comes to late night walks in the woods, we rely on this Streamlight flashlight.
Book Resources
Ultimate Wilderness Gear: Craig Caudill, author of Extreme Wilderness Survival and chief instructor at Nature Reliance School, takes you to the cutting edge of outdoor gear. Find out which items will perform the best in the field without breaking the bank. Learn what you need, why you need it and how to care for it.
The Total Outdoorsman (Field & Stream): With practical information for both the beginner and advanced outdoorsman, the book is an authoritative, comprehensive, and entertaining guide that will enable anyone to master the outdoors and hunt, fish, and camp like an expert.
Work Gloves
Whether you’re clearing out the fallen limbs from winter storms or building a new treehouse, the right gloves will protect your hands and help you be comfortable all season long. Choose the ones that work for you and keep them handy for your next outdoor adventure.
Thermos
Most people function better on a cold spring morning with something hot to drink. Keep the thermos full of coffee, hot cocoa or hot tea so you can warm up from the inside whenever you feel the need!
What are your essential pieces of gear for spring adventures? Got a favorite brand of boots, gloves or flashlight? I’d love to hear! See you outdoors!
