Save on Cyber Monday Deals
The world is going nuts trying to get the best deals this weekend and tomorrow on Cyber Monday. There are some great deals for the items on your shopping list; but don’t be fooled into thinking that everything that says ‘sale’ is actually the best price of the season. There will be more deals online and in stores over the next few weeks that will allow you to still save money using online rebate sites.
Here are some tips for how to save on Cyber Monday Deals.
Save on Cyber Monday Deals
One of my favorite ways to save money when I shop online is using online rebate sites like Mr. Rebates or Ebates. If you are in my circle of connections, you’ve heard me talk about this idea many times. I am a firm believer that if I’m going to spend money online, I ought to get rewarded for it.
How to Use Online Rebate Sites
Before you go online shopping at your favorite store like Gap, Ann Taylor, Shutterfly, Snapfish, Target, Old Navy or Walmart, click on Mrrebates.com. or Ebates. (Both sites work the same)
- Login or register. If you are registering for the first time, you will get a $5.00 bonus just for signing up! They may even give higher sign up bonuses for Cyber Monday!
- Now type in the store name in the search bar at the top.
- A small screen will pop up telling you that you are being directed to your store’s site.
- Then you will be at your store site.
- Shop like normal!
- Pay like normal!
- Receive your product – like normal!
In a few days, you will get an email saying “Thanks, your rebate is being processed at Mr Rebates.”
It takes 90 days after you make your purchase to have that money available and you must accumulate at least $10.00 in rebate money at Mr. Rebates or Ebates. But then you can request a check mailed to you or have the money deposited into your Paypal account.
I understand that this is not INSTANT savings – but I figure if I am already going to be spending the money, I may as well have the company send me some of it back.
One other thing to remember is that you can also earn money when your friends shop online. If you are the first person in your family or group of friends to sign up, then give them your referral id. It will look like this from Mr Rebates or like this from Ebates.
(If you are interested in signing up and want me to email you the referral link, just drop me an email at hobbiesonabudget@gmail.com). There is a tab that says “tell-a-friend” or “refer a friend” so you can email the referral link or post it on your facebook page. Right now ebates is giving you a $50 bonus when you sign up 2 friends. Why would you not want to share this with your friends and family?! They save money when they shop online and you get bonus rewards as well. Obviously, I would love if you sign up using my referral link, but if you have a friend who is already a member ask them for their referral link and share the savings with them!
Shopping online using rebates sites just makes sense. If you are already planning to spend the money, then it is a great way to reward yourself later. This is also a great way to fund your hobbies in the spring. You will end up with bonus money right about the time the seasons change and you are ready to get out and work in the flower gardens.
What’s your favorite online rebate site? Got any tips to make them work even better? I’d love to hear! Have fun shopping!

I use affiliate links. If you click on my link I will receive a percentage of your purchase, but it will not come out of your pocket. It is a thank you from the company for getting people to sign up. But I only refer you to companies that actually save me money!
