High Bridge Park: Jessamine County, Kentucky

Some days just beg for an adventure, but not all days have enough time to really hit the road and go exploring. This weekend, we took a quick road trip over to the city to go shopping and decided to swing by High Bridge Park on our way home. It took us less than an hour extra time for this detour, but the views and time spent outside together as a family made the trip priceless. If you are looking for a local Kentucky adventure, then High Bridge Park in Jessamine County is just the place for you!

High Bridge Park: Jessamine County, Kentucky

High Bridge Park is a popular place for local travelers, weddings and family reunion picnics. But it’s also a perfect place for family adventures.

High Bridge Park is a great spot to go get a breath of fresh air or take a picnic lunch. From vantage point of the park, you can enjoy a view of the Kentucky River and the engineering landmark known as High Bridge.

There are picnic pavilions and several park benches and swings throughout the park.

One of the picnic pavilions has the most beautiful view of the Kentucky Palisades and High Bridge.

What are the Kentucky Palisades? They are a series of steep, scenic gorges and limestone outcroppings that stretch for approximately 100 mi along the Kentucky River in central Kentucky.

One of the best overlooks is the bridge off to the side of the Pavilion. You can reserve the Pavilion for events by contacting the Jessamine County Office.

When we were there the sun was directly behind the bridge but we still had some really fun pictures and opportunities to play with shadows and light.

Right before you enter the park, you can stop and enjoy the actual bridge.

People have found a way to deface the surfaces of the bridge with graffiti, but the views are still amazing.
