Crave Lexington 2015 Tips

Hobbies on a Budget received tickets or discounts to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. No monetary compensation was received.

This is the third year our family has enjoyed Crave Lexington! Each year the event adds more food vendors, new-to-us local musical talent and allows our family to try amazing local food while creating memories! This is definitely a Do-Not-Miss event in our family. Even though we live almost 2 hours away from Crave, we wouldn’t dream of missing! If you are in the Lexington area, you’ve still got a few hours tonight and then tomorrow starting at noon!

Crave Lexington 2015 Tips

Before you head out to enjoy the food, music and atmosphere, here are 5 tips you need to know!

Parking

Parking is $5.00 per carload. Be prepared to deal with a bit of a wait in the parking line depending on when you go. But the wait is worth it!

Crave Lexington is a FREE event, but it is definitely more fun if you purchase the tickets for the food vendors. You don’t use money at any of the food trucks or tents. Food is sold in 3 levels at each vendor. There are $1, $3, and $5 options. We typically purchase something that we can all share as a family. We have tried gelato, burgers, Pad Thai, Lamb, Greek food, ….Check out some of the food vendors for Crave Lexington 2015.

Check the schedule

if you want to check the schedule, feel free. But it’s completely not necessary. While we were there, we go to experience the March Madness Band and Will Solomon. We had no idea who either of these groups were, but we loved the experience. You may not know what you are going to hear on the stage, but you can be guaranteed that it will be an experience you won’t forget!

Don’t forget the Sunscreen

It may be late August, but the sun is still nice and warm. Don’t forget the sunscreen tomorrow!

Activities for Kids

There are more activities for kids this year than ever before. If you don’t mind the kids getting wet, toss their swimsuits in a bag and be prepared to let them slip, slide and get wet! For the families that don’t want to get the kids wet, there are plenty of inflatables just for you!

  1. Sharing! My boyfriend and I shared just about everything and definitely got more bang for our buck. We tried so many things that way.
Also, we bought a glass of wine each at the entrance, and then took a lap around to see all our choices. That way we didn’t spend all our tickets before we got to something we really wanted to try.
We spent $50 (less than a typical dinner at a fine dining restaraunt) and had more options than we would have had going to dinner. Not to mention loading up on free samples, and promotional coupons and merchandise.
My boyfriend and I love trying new food, especially fine dining, but sometimes it’s difficult to chose a restaurant you know nothing about (and in some cases didn’t know exists). We made so many awesome discoveries! Can’t wait to visit some of these restaraunts, and to back to Crave next year for even more fun!
