Operation Gratitude

Do you love to knit or crochet? Last week I saw Gary Sinise on an advertisement telling about how people like you and me can help our military men and women and say thanks. Here is a great way to use your hobby to help our men and women serving our country. You simply create a hat or scarf and mail it to Operation Gratitude in California. It doesn’t get much easier than this.

Some commonly asked questions:

What colors are acceptable? Best to keep the colors subtle – Blues, browns, olive, grays, maroon, and black are all excellent choices. No red-white-blue combinations.

What fibers are acceptable? We will accept scarves and hats made from wool, acrylics, or non-flammable fleece. Cool Ties should be made with 100% cotton. Please list the fiber content on your items.

Can’t knit or sew? Consider donating yarn for other knitters to use or making a financial donation to help pay the postage on our care packages.

Hats & Scarves
We accept donations September through December each year.
Scarves should be 5-6” across and 45-48” long so they fit in our care packages. No fringe, please!

How will you use your hobbies to make a difference this holiday season? I’d love to hear!

Spread the love
