The Sweet Shoppe – Hodgenville, KY

When we take a road trip, we try to find the little local shops and restaurants that are hidden or mostly known only by the locals.  On a recent adventure, we were traveling through Hodgenville and had a bit of a craving for something sweet. Sure, we could have stopped at the local Dollar General Store and bought a bag of chocolate candy, but we wanted something a little tastier and more special.

A quick internet search told us that The Sweet Shoppe in Hodgenville was only 5 minutes from where we were. The description said that they have been voted Best Sweet Spot in Kentucky by Ky Living Magazine. With that kind of description, there was no way we were going to skip this.

The Sweet Shoppe in Hodgenville, KY

They have been serving homemade fudge and gourmet caramel apples since 2002, with over 30 flavors plus seasonal favorites made from real cream, butter, and sugar for that rich, creamy taste. Along with fudge, they offer Velvet and Blue Bell ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes, banana splits, and fresh-baked goods—making it easy to find something sweet, whether you stop by in person or catch them at local events.

We easily found the Sweet Shoppe located right on the square across from the Lincoln Museum (which we have not yet visited. That means we will definitely be back in Hodgenville soon!)

It’s the cutest little shop where you can buy homemade fudge, hand-scooped ice cream, or other homemade treats. What’s not to love?

When we find a shop that makes homemade fudge, we love trying out a new flavor that we haven’t had at other stores. We asked the lady behind the counter what their signature flavor is and decided that a sample bite of the Tiger Stripe was a great place to start.

Tip: If you are ever at a shop that sells homemade fudge, they will almost always ask you if you want to try a sample to test. Don’t be afraid to say yes!

You know how much I love traveling, right? Take a look at where people who have visited The Sweet Shoppe live!

We ended up buying several flavors so we could test them out. (Spoiler alert, they were all tasty!) If you love fudge, you’ll probably love these too!

Tip: Not local? You can order their famous fudge from their Etsy shop!

Have you ever visited The Sweet Shoppe in Hodgenville? What’s your favorite flavor of fudge?

Spread the love
