Cave City, KY Antique Malls
Recently, we took a short drive over to Cave City, Kentucky and visited several antique malls. We love walking through these antique stores, not because we are shopping for anything particular, but we love looking for ideas for how to reuse and repurpose things that we have found on the farm, in the barn or been given to us from family members. If you are in the Cave City area, here are two places that you should definitely check out.

Cave City, KY Antique Malls
The Olde Gener’l Store is a unique place to visit. The porch area has hundreds of geodes and rocks. The middle sections of the store feel like a souvenir shop. But the ends of the store are full of thousands of old rusty tools, barrels, buckets, and things you may haven’t seen in years.

The most unusual store in Cave Country! Antiques, Collector Items, Gifts, Minnetonka “Indian” Moccasins, White Oak Kentucky Handmade Baskets, Souvenirs, Crafts, & other old things and stuff!
Paul’s Antiques & Collectibles
Located in an old bank building, this antique store is not just a great place to find hidden treasures and inspiration, but the bank’s structure is still in place. You can step into the bank vault and walk around the bank teller counter.

You’ll take a step back in time when you visit Paul’s Antiques & Collectibles, located in the old H.Y. Davis National Bank building. The building itself is as interesting as the vintage treasures found inside, because it still has most of the original bank fixtures.
One of the first things I look for when we walk into an antique mall is quilts. Sometimes they’re hung up where you can really see and appreciate the stitching, and other times they’re folded into stacks you have to dig through a little. Either way, I always stop. I love studying the fabrics and wondering about their story. My favorites are the hand-stitched scrap quilts made from bits of old clothing and worn fabric.
I’ve been thinking about what my next project should be to use some of my old fabric pieces from the cutter quilt. So when I saw this scrap quilted Christmas stocking, I was hooked. I’m planning to make our whole family new Christmas stockings to use this next year. Won’t they look so homey hanging on our stair rail?

If you’re in the Cave City area and want still more, take a few-minute drive over to Horse Cave for more antique stores!
