I love a good clean, family-friendly movie to watch on a cold winter night. But I’ll be honest, I’m not much for Hallmark “boy-meets-girl” movies. I much prefer movies that tell a story and inspire me to be something better. If you are looking for some movies that are light on language and safe for the whole family, check these out.

Best Christmas Pageant Ever

If you have ever helped direct a children’s Christmas play, you have probably had at least one child show up that didn’t quite fit the expected role. The story of the “Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is a classic that we’ve all experienced to some small degree and now has been brought to life on the screen in the best way possible.

This book has been a classic in our lives for many years. We read it when we were young, and my daughter even had the chance to help bring it to life in a middle school Christmas play. So, admittedly, we started the movie with some pre-conceived bias, hoping it wouldn’t lessen our love for the story or alter the charm of the original.

We were in for the best surprise possible. Not only did the film stay true to the story, but they brought all the right pieces together to bring the story to life. I loved the way the characters showed what they were feeling. In the final scenes of the pageant, there were tears streaming down the face of the actors ,but then I realized that we were sneakily wiping away tears as well.

This movie hits all the right notes – from the subtle carols that are weaved into the soundtrack to the final moments when the final credits listed the ‘where are they now‘ details about each of the Herdman children.

This movie is going on the buy it now list as soon as it is available to bring it home, because, honestly, this is the kind of film that should be considered a new Christmas classic and watched every year with the next generations.

Lost on the Mountain in Maine

#LostOnAMountainInMaineMIN #MomentumInfluencerNetwork

Lost on the Mountain in Maine is the story of a 12-year-old boy who gets lost in the vast wilderness of Maine. Based on a true story from 1939, the movie follows the emotional journey of his family as they rally together and the community joins in the search.

What starts as a simple hiking trip with Dad and sons quickly turns into a parents worst nightmare. The strength of the movie lies in the real emotion as the family grows closer and works of the family’s unwavering determination and support, which truly drives the story. While it’s a survival tale at its core, the film beautifully emphasizes the importance of unity and faith during trying times, making it not just a gripping watch but an inspiring one.
