Books I’ve Read & What’s Next!

As my uncle always says, if you read books, you’ll know things. I always enjoy reading a variety of different types of books that match my variety of hobbies and interests! From the classic Anne of Green Gables, my mom’s newest books, a new book about gardening, or a 1905 French Lupin mystery on Audible, I love taking new adventures through written words!

This year, I’ve been slowly rediscovering my love for reading. I’m using Goodreads to track my progress, and as of now, I’ve finished 14 books since June. Not bad, considering I barely picked up a book in the first half of the year while we were in the middle of moving and getting settled here on the farm!

Now that things have calmed down a bit, I’ve found myself making time again to read — even if it’s just a few pages before bed or listening to an audiobook while I’m working around the house.

My Reading Stack

Here’s a look at the books that I’ve read or listened to over the past few months — a mix of classics, faith reads, and a few modern favorites:

  • The Warrior’s Path – Louis L’Amour
  • Sackett’s Land – Louis L’Amour
  • To the Far Blue Mountains – Louis L’Amour
  • Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis – J.D. Vance
  • Mere Christianity – C.S. Lewis
  • Songs in the Night: Stories of Encouragement – Ritchie Dawn Hale
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – J.K. Rowling
  • Kilmeny of the Orchard – L.M. Montgomery
  • The AI Playbook – Eric Siegel

Each one offered something a little different — from adventure stories to deep reflections on faith and purpose.

If you’ve been thinking about diving into a new audiobook or catching up on your reading goals, now’s the perfect time to join Audible!

For a limited time, you can join for just $0.99/month for your first 3 months. After that, it renews at $14.95/month — and you can cancel anytime.

Offer ends December 16, 2025, so don’t miss it!

What I’m Reading Now

Right now, I’ve got two stories going:

  • Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Thief by Maurice Leblanc – I’m listening on Audible and loving this classic collection of clever mysteries.
  • Jubal Sackett by Louis L’Amour – Book #3 in the Sacketts series.

I’m also getting inspired with some gardening reads — perfect books as I dream and plan for next spring and new garden beds.

Why Reading Still Matters

Even in busy seasons, I’ve realized how important it is to make time for reading. It doesn’t have to be a big commitment — just a few pages or chapters here and there — but it shifts my mindset and helps me breathe a little deeper.

With two months left in 2025, I’m not working toward a specific number. My focus is simply to keep reading something — whether that’s a faith book, a novel, or a gardening guide. My uncle has a saying that we regularly hear when he pops out a random fact or quote – “I read books. I know things.”

What are you reading? Got any good suggestions I might enjoy next?

Spread the love
