Welcome December with the Manger Mission
Are you looking for a new Christmas tradition to share with your kids this holiday season? When our kids were young we had a nativity set that lived under the Christmas tree all season so they could play with their favorite characters and live out the Christmas story. Recently I was introduced to a brand new tradition – the Manger Mission. Read on to see how this could become an annual experience that you and your family share as you look toward the manger and Christmas morning.

Welcome December with the Manger Mission
The Manger Mission is an activity set that is designed for your family to use year after year! It’s child-led, play-based, and Jesus-focused. The Manger Mission has a goal to build a foundation of faith through play-based learning.
With simple, whimsical illustrations and sturdy wooden character pieces, this is a tradition that we are going to hang on to for future generations to come. When nephews, cousins, and other children visit the house they can read the book and help decide where to move the wise men.
About the Manger Mission
Each year, you unpack the wooden characters and read the story together. The idea is that just like the wise men traveled from the east to worship the new baby, the wooden characters take a journey around your house till they arrive at the manger on Christmas morning.
While traditional nativity sets have the wise men alongside the shepherds, an angel, several sheep and donkeys gathering at the manger, we know from the biblical account that the actual timeline was a bit different. The Manger Mission addresses this in their book and gives each family the opportunity to teach the full timeline while still enjoying the adventure of bringing the wise men to the nativity scene.
I love that this tradition is child-led which takes the stress off the parents of having to remember “one more thing” each evening before bed. The kids can use their imagination and place the wise man wherever they want as they journey to the manger.
Where will your wise men move each day? Will they find themselves on a bookshelf, in the sock basket, in a plane, or on top of a castle? The wise men may even end up sharing breakfast! Let the kids decide where they move to each day.
Buy today so your family or those you gift it to can start The Manger Mission this year!
