Unique Gift Ideas from Small Business Owners

Tis’ the season of giving! Everyone has a list and is checking it twice. There are some people that are easy to shop for with gifts wrapped and under the tree. But there are others on your list who need something extra special and unique. Instead of running to your local big-box store, why not get creative and find some unique gift ideas from small business owners!

No monetary compensation was received for this post. No affiliate links are included. I’m simply promoting some amazing local small business owners around the country.

Unique Gift Ideas from Small Business Owners

Local artisans and crafters all around the country are creating some amazing gifts using their personal hobbies. Whether you are looking for a handmade wooden gift or a piece of jewelry to wear all year round, there is someone out there who is creating a work of art!

How to find a Local Crafter

It’s easy to find local crafters or someone in a nearby state that is creating something amazing. Just ask your friends or post a recommendation request on Facebook. If you ask the right friend, you will get the contact information for a special one of a kind gift!

Don’t Look for a Bargain – Look for something Unique!

Remember that small business owners may be a little more expensive because they don’t have a huge marketing or design budget paying for their business expenses. Prepare to pay a little more with the knowledge that they have purchased specialized equipment and are usually balancing full-time jobs while they turn out their unique gifts in their off time.

Take a Picture

When you receive the gift idea, remember to take a picture and share it with your friends and family. Small Business and local crafters don’t have a large budget for advertising so word of mouth is like gold! Share your gift and promote them on social media. Make sure other people know how to find them!

The Art of Turning

One of my friends in New Hampshire has transformed his hobby of turning wood into some amazing personalized gifts. Andrew recently sent me two custom pens that I can use to promote my blogs and celebrate my love for travel and adventure. Check out his extensive gallery of wooden gifts at the Art of Turning.

The Splinter Shack

A local family has begun creating personal, custom gifts and products using their laser printer. They can cut designs on almost any surface – from drink tumblers to rolling pins, earrings, ornaments and anything else you can imagine. They created this fun US map to celebrate one of our recent road trips out west!

Contact Chris and Leslie and see what unique gifts they can create for the people on your list!

Look for Special Promotional Items

Some of my favorite websites only have shops open at certain times of the year. Subscribe for updates so you will know when they have their shops open with promotional jewelry, ornaments, bookmarks, mugs, t-shirts. I love this ornament that reminds me that I am Beautifully Designed and the necklace that let me remember that I can WIN THE DAY by my mindset and choices.

Do you support small business owners? What unique shops have you discovered that show your love for one of a kind gifts and support the local crafters? I’d love to hear!
