Creativity with Socks and Cardboard
It’s hot outside! That means that the kids are spending a little more time indoors. But that doesn’t mean they have to be bored or play electronics all day. I gave the kids a few ideas so they could choose what they wanted to do for the afternoon and then turned my 8 year old loose on the computer. Sure, I could have sat down and showed them how to make sock puppets, but I wanted her to find an idea and discover some creativity with socks and cardboard on her own.

Creativity with Socks and Cardboard
She easily found a tutorial with lots of pictures of how to make a sock puppet. Since I have already showed her how to safely use the low heat glue gun, she was ready to begin. I even gave her the camera to show some of her progress.
Then it was time to work on the cardboard puppet stage. She decided that this was going to be a series of row houses and needed some windows and doors. Then I used an xacto knife to cut them out.
Then she used some ribbons to do some simple decorations.
I love when my kids can find ways to be creative with simple things. What have your kids been creating this summer? I’d love to hear!
