Have you ever found yourself in a rustic campground with lots of dirty tshirts from the rainstorm that just came through and no way to clean your clothes except in the swollen creek? Maybe you’ve been on a family vacation and didn’t want to pack alot of extra clothes and ended having to wash some clothes by hand in the hotel sink? Ever had the power go out for an extended amount of time and watched in desperation as the clean towels disappeared? Here is a product that just may make your life easier. The Scrubba Washbag is an upgrade on the traditional washboard and takes up almost no space to store.
The Scrubba Washbag
I never grew up using the traditional washboards, but I do remember hanging our wet laundry on the clothesline in the backyard. Growing up in central Kentucky we had a dryer, but my Mom often opted to have us dry our clothes outside. We always had clothespins in ready supply. With each generation, our kids are missing out the opportunity to learn skills that will help them in life situations.
Here is a great product from EarthEasy that allows us to be prepared for power outage situations, outdoor adventures and travel.
How it works
- The Scrubba bag is a simple product.
- You simply put your dirty clothes in the bag.
- Add a little bit of laundry detergent.
- Pour in water up to the fill line.
Roll the bag down, pushing the air out as you roll.
Use the nozzle to help release the rest of the air.
Use your hands to scrub the clothes back and forth inside the bag. This is an easy process since the water naturally sloshes back and forth as you roll the clothes back and forth.
the Scrubba™ Wash Bag is the lightest and most compact “washing machine” in the world. It’s a packing essential for all travellers and campers who want to: pack lighter and cleaner, wash clothes anywhere, save money, and enjoy travel.
When you feel your clothes are clean, unclip the bag and pour out the used water.
Pour in some fresh water to rinse your clothes.
Take out your clothes; wring them out and hang to dry.
Obviously, I love my washing machine and dryer. The convenience for cleaning my clothes is not something I’m going to give up. However, I am smart enough to know that there are situations where I may need to wash something without using electricity (power outages, travel, weather situations, or camping….)
This is one of those simple products that I am excited to add to my preparedness box. It’s not something I need to use everyday, but the Scrubba bag is an effective tool that could help me thrive in situations that are outside my regular routine.
