RISK: Classic Games for a new Generation

Do you remember the classic board game Risk where you try to conquer the world? You are given a set of cards that show you which territories you control. Then each turn you have the opportunity to add more armies and battle your opponents. My kids have never had the chance to play this classic game, but recently Winning Moves sent us the classic reproduction board game of Risk.

RISK: Classic Games for a new Generation

My kids are like many of yours and love playing video games. So when I can find a classic board game that captures their attention, I am completely on board. This classic game of Risk gives each player the chance to use their own strategy to try to attack other armies with a roll of the dice and work to capture the continents – one army at a time.

Tip for Long Term Play

Risk is one of those games that can last longer than a bag of chips or M&M’s. So set up a card table in the basement or family room and let the game stay in play. This will give each player the chance to play for more than one day without leaving the kitchen table occupied.

Do you remember playing Risk back when you were growing up? Got any great memories of this classic board game? I’d love to hear!

  1. I love Risk, I have an original version AND the Lord of the Rings version! I used to bring it in to work to play with friends on our hour lunch break and we would have to take pictures of the board every day so that we knew where to pick up the next day. It took us almost a week to finish each game, but it was so much fun.

  2. We grew up playing Risk way back in the stoneage, it was a fun rainy afternoon game and we loved it to pieces. Matter of fact I have the game we played on tatterrd and torn after Mom gave it to me. Its a great game although my brother always won!

  3. Good idea to set up the game board somewhere you can leave it set up so play can continue until there is a winner. I have never played risk but it looks like fun. Thanks for the review.

  4. It’s so funny that you wrote this post. My family was just saying the wanted to play Risk. We have friends that play it often and they just love it. Sounds like it is a lot of fun. I am not sure I am smart enough for it, but sure want to try.
