I love shopping after-holiday sales! But it’s not good enough the day after the holiday. If you wait a few extra days after the official holiday has passed, the discounts will start to really add up. That’s when it’s time to prepare for Valentines Day – a whole year in advance.
Prepare for Valentines Day: A Year in Advance
When my kids started kindergarten, I started a collection of Valentine’s Cards. Every year I pick up a couple new boxes so there will be more choices for the kids next round of parties. I have picked up boxes for as low as a dime. Sometimes there are specialty boxes with character pencils, tattoos or specialty stickers. Now, every year when they bring home the list of students’ names, the kids can just pull out the Valentines Card box and pick and choose what they want to use.
One fun benefit of this early preparation is that each student and friend can get a personal Valentine card. If they know their friend loves Spiderman, then they can use that theme. A girl in the class who loves little puppies? No problem!
I love finding the Valentines Cards when they go on 90% discount. Sure, the choices may be picked over a little, but with that kind of savings, the kids can have tons of fun choices.
Do you shop the after holiday sales too? Got any fun stories or tips! I’d love to hear!
