What is your favorite drink? Are you a coffee drinker, tea and kool-aid person or maybe you prefer a carbonated drink all throughout the day. For me, I would rather drink water than anything else. It all started when I was 16 years old and realized that if I wanted to drink a coke at work, I had to pay for it. Since I never had extra money, I started drinking water. I quickly realized that not all water tastes the same, so I adopted the habit of adding a splash of lemon. For almost 25 years, I have made water my drink of choice. But getting my kids and family to drink enough water is not always an easy task. Bottled Nestle® Pure Life Water is one of the things that helps me keep my family hydrated and healthy.
Raising a Family that Loves Water
The best way for me to start my day is with a glass of ice water with a slice of lemon or fresh lime. I keep it on the counter and just refill it all day. I love the taste of the lemon or lime water and am able to stay hydrated all throughout the day. But getting my boys to drink a glass of water throughout the day is not always as easy.
My kids are like most other kids. If you give them a choice of cola or water, they’ll typically choose a cola. But if I take away carbonated options, they’ll choose what is available. I love when I see my family drinking water by their choice, but they won’t typically fill a glass of water from the faucet. Since it is important for them to have an easy, convenient way to drink water, I typically keep the fridge stocked with bottles of water.
This past weekend, my kids went to the refrigerator to get something to drink and I realized we were out of all the bottles of water.
When I was in Walmart buying the groceries for the week, I picked up several cases of Nestlé Pure Life Water. I found several of the small packs in the back with the other drinks, but the big packs were strategically located right in front of the check out registers.
One of the things I am concerned with now that we have moved and have a new trash pick up service is the amount of trash we are throwing away. The individual bottles aren’t really expensive and are perfect for on-the-go hydration, but when we are just drinking water at home it seems kind of senseless to just drink the individual bottles. I wish our Walmart sold the big 5 gallon refillable bottles of Nestlé Pure Life Water. This would make drinking water so much easier for the family as well as reduce the waste in our household. The 5 Gallon Nestle Water bottle is PET plastic which is BPA-free.
Drinking Water on the Go
Our family takes lots of road trips. It is a very common thing for us to load up the car on a weekend morning, plug in the GPS and head out on adventures. One of the things we always take in the van is a stocked cooler. We load up water bottles and snack bars so we will be prepared no matter where our adventure takes us. When we have been out hiking to a waterfall or exploring a new nature preserve, all of us are ready for our own bottle of water.
Do you and your family enjoy drinking water or is it just not done at your house? We’re not ‘there’ yet, but we are definitely on the right track.
