Happy 100th Birthday Morton Salt Girl!
Did you know that the Morton Salt Girl is 100 years old? Our family will take any reason to celebrate and have a birthday party. So when I heard that the Morton Salt Girl was turning 100, we knew we wanted to hop in and celebrate too! We decided to mix up some homemade icecream and celebrate this milestone. #MortonSaltGirl100
Happy 100th Birthday Morton Salt!
Making homemade icecream is not rocket science but it can be a bit noisy. I whipped up the mix using the simplest of ingredients – milk, heavy cream, vanilla and sugar.
We picked up some Morton Rock Salt and cranked up the ice cream maker in the garage so it could work while we went about the rest of the day.
The fun part began when we pulled all the goodies out of our party stash. We had everything we needed to create a perfect birthday bash for the Morton Salt Girl! Of course I used our party tablecloth that has been used for 10 years. It’s starting to get a little torn around the corners, but I still love using it to decorate for special events.
Once the icecream was ready it was time to decorate our vanilla icecream with M&Ms! This was definitely the highlight of the party. Each person had their own personal bag of M&Ms to eat by themselves or sprinkle on top of the icecream.

I love the blue Morton salt box. In a generation where most packaging and labeling changes, that little blue box is always identifiable on the grocery and kitchen home shelves. Several years ago, I began using my old black cast iron skillets again. I did some research on the best way to clean it after cooking. Salt was the suggested method, and that’s what I’ve done ever since. Happy Birthday Morton Salt.
