As people everywhere start decorating, shopping and preparing for the holiday season, it’s really easy to fall into the trap of thinking that everyone is going to have all the ingredients for holiday baking, plenty of food and all the shampoo, deodorant and soap that they need to take care of their family. It’s often hard for my children to grasp the idea that kids in their school may not have enough food to eat, much less presents under the tree. But what can we do about it? The problem seems to big to solve on our own. That’s why I’m excited when I find companies like Unilever who are offering some tangible solutions and making a difference.
Making a Difference with Unilever
When people do something to make a difference, we applaud their efforts. Individual people can make a difference in the lives of many people but when companies take their extensive line of products and use their level of influence to help Cross Off Hunger and Feed America, it’s pretty inspiring. Unilever has a goal to help one billion people improve their health and well-being.
Unilever is committed to donating more than two million meals to families in need with Feeding America and every item on your shopping list counts. Show your support by adding Unilever brands to your cart next time you shop. Together we can help to Cross Off Hunger.
The Unilever Brands
I knew I had seen the Unilever U on many products like Dove, Lipton, Hellmanns Mayonaisse and V05, but I didn’t realize there were so many other Unilever brands.
This next week I am planning to go shopping to see how many Unilever products I can find. One of the things I love doing at the Chrsitmas season is fixing a basket to take to a nursing home resident, a special family or to our resource center. One year my daughter and I took several baskets to some residents at our local retirement home. They didn’t have family coming to visit them for the holidays. We included some toiletries, fruit and reading materials. My daughter came away telling me this: “We thought we were doing something good for them, but it actually made me feel really good to do something for them. Let’s do it again!”.
Make sure you check back next week to see what I found and how my family plans to make a difference on a personal level!
What we can do
Making a difference in the lives of people around us is not rocket science. It starts with understanding that there is a problem close to us. Unilever has a great 4 part quiz that I took that helped make me aware of how prevalent the problem of hunger in Amercia really is. You get a badge to show that you completed the 4 part quiz.
Doing something for others is always a good thing. But during the month of December, it’s just extra special.
Do you have plans to do something special for others this year? I’d love to hear your plans
