Most of the time when I review a product for you, I test it out thoroughly and make sure it works. I check all their claims about the product and see for myself whether the product is worthy of our purchase. But the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter is a little different. I will tell you right up front that I have absolutely no idea if this product works as it says, but for $19.95 I am 100% convinced that this is something that I am going to keep in my emergency supply bag!

LifeStraw Personal Water Filter
I am no survivalist. I don’t expect the world to be attacked by aliens, zombies or for there to be a massive worldwide disaster. However, I am a realist and I have seen how easy it can be for our regular lives to be interrupted by power outages, water line breaks or natural disasters. We are trying to be prepared on our end so that we won’t be stuck without water or food if there was a problem with our current supply. Yes, we store back a few gallons of water, but if the power was out for very long or the water line was out for more than a few days, we might be in a precarious situation. This would also be perfect for hiking and camping situations where you wanted to take a back up water supply.
Now, I have not tested the LifeStraw under any conditions so I can not claim that it is going to work. But doesn’t it just make sense to keep something on hand that can do this. Which would you rather stock? 264 Gallons of Water or 1 LifeStraw?

How does the LifeStraw Work?
The LifeStraw is simply a filter. You use it like a straw to drink out of the water source.

I received a personal water filter LifeStraw. This straw weighs less than 2 ounces. If I had to be out hiking or camping and needed a back-up source of clean water, this would be the product I would want.

Does NOT use iodine or iodinized resin
Contains no chemicals (and is BPA-free), uses no batteries, has no moving parts
Very high flow rate; no after taste (because no iodine or chlorine are used)
Easy to clean. Can be stored and used periodically. Just keep uncapped so it can dry thoroughly.
WOW! This is simply amazing, I had never heard of this before now and I will defiantly be checking in to buying one.
I need these in my hurricane kit, 2004 we tried to buy water and the store were empty and hardly any store open they gouged a gallon of water cost 10.00
I just recently heard about Life Straw’s! I plan on getting some of these for our emergency kit.
This has been on my list of preparedness products that I have to get. It looks like an extremely useful product.
I have friends that are missionaries that could really benefit from these.
I want one of these! This is a fantastic idea !
This is interesting and honestly I would keep one handy. You just never know these days. We reply too much on power and we have spoiled our lakes and rivers.
My grandson is a Boy Scout and I would love for him to have one of these – just in case!
That is amazing! Why have I never seen anything like this before. It would be great to keep in the car or going camping too
My sons all want one of these and after reading your review i think they’ll be getting one!
I have wanted one fo these for quite some time now! I really think being prepared is alwaays for te best and in a pinch these would work well. I liked how in depth your review was, you explained iit well.
This looks so awesome! Would be perfect for people after natural disasters!

Would be a great tool to have with hiking trips!
Great for camping in the BWCA!
I’d like to win this for our long road trip coming up in July!
For my son who is always out in the Idaho deserts looking for his treasure–rocks he drinks some of the worse conditions of water, someday he is going to get really sick
Why do you want to win a Life Straw?
great for the bad tasting water fountain on my running rout
My husband and I are working toward a more nomadic lifestyle, and while we’re neither survivalists nor doomsdayers, we have a lot of respect and interest in products such as this. Sure could make living off-the-grid a little simpler!
My hubby is going to CO this summer to climb the Maroon Bells with one of his brothers – he’s never done anything like this before and is so excited! He really needs this little “break” from work, and I KNOW he would love to take this Life Straw with him!!
This would be a great item to have in an emergency.
It is small and convenient, and very cool!
As you may know, there was recently a chemical spill in southern WV; many of the folks there say their water is still undrinkable. I think a life straw would make things better in a case like this.
