How to Make Crocheted Hearts

With Valentines Day coming up soon, I decided to try something brand new for me. I found this really pretty white yarn with little beads in my yarn stash that I knew would be perfect for a Valentine’s Day project. I searched till I found a youtube video showing me how to make crocheted hearts.. Now that I have made a few of these hearts, I’m really clueless as to what I can do with them. But I do think they are really pretty.

I’ve never crocheted any patterns or crafts – just afghans, scarves or hats. So this was way out of my comfort zone. But I was quite pleased with how they turned out.

You start by making 12 rows of 12 single crochets till you have a square.

For the loopy part of the hearts, you just keep going into the same hole in the middle 10 times. I watched the youtube video about 30 times to get it right. Basically, you just loop your yarn around and then keep pulling it through till you get the long loops.

Here’s the youtube tutorial I used:

I’m really pleased with how they turned out. My kids suggested I make enough to connect them and make an afghan. I’m not quite sure that would work. Maybe I’ll just drop them in an envelope and mail them to my Grandmother and tell her Happy Valentine’s Day. What do you think I should do with them?
