Epic Road Trip 2016

We just returned from a 7 day, 2600 mile, 11 state road trip! We have squeezed in so many things and I am, of course, going to be blogging about all of it! I’ve got tips, printable checklists, travel ideas, and amazing places that you need to include in your next vacation. So where in the world have we been?

We started in Kentucky and went northeast! We covered Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and then West Virginia on the way home.

The kids added 6 new states to their 50 state goal. Here’s our current state count as of July 9, 2016:

  • Sharon – 32
  • Shannon – 27
  • 3 Kids – 23

What did we do?

I’m so glad you asked!

The kids became Jr Rangers at the Springfield Armory with the National Park Service Rangers.

We enjoyed a sunset at Presque Isle State Park on Lake Erie.

We hiked along the bluffs at Lake Ontario. (Chimney Bluffs State Park)

and bought maple syrup in Vermont

We felt the spray from Niagara Falls,

and walked the Freedom Trail in Boston #BostonUSA


We learned all about Baseball in Coooperstown, NY

We took time to appreciate the view from HogBack Mountain – 3 states!

We choked back tears at the Flight 93 Memorial as we learned about bravery!

One of our favorite Dr. Seuss books was one of the fun finds on our trip!

We spent time learning about President John F. Kennedy at the Presidential Library and Museum.

Luke found a perfect rock at Plymouth Rock for his collection, but it wouldn’t quite fit in the car, so he settled for a souvenir rock in the gift shop.

We stayed in some great hotels,

ate some fresh caught fish at Smugglers Wharf,

and of course one of the highlights was the Chocolate Tour at the Sweetest Place on Earth!
