Easy Thanksgiving Crocheted Pumpkins
Decorating for the fall holidays should be something you look forward to and should not cause stress on your budget or require hours at the store planning what to buy. Instead, just create something using materials you probably already own.
Materials Needed
- Fall colored yarn
- Crochet Hook
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
- Pillow Stuffing
- Small piece of a branch for the stem
Directions
Crochet a rectangle about 3 inches by 6 inches. This is approximate and can be adjusted depending on how big you want your pumpkin to be.
You can use any stitch you want. I like the way it turned out by crocheting into the back loop so you get the ribbed look.
Use the yarn needle and sew the two sides together with a simple whip stitch to form a tube shape.
Loosely thread the yarn needle through the end of the ‘tube’ and pull tightly to gather the bottom. It will now be a loose formed cup.
Fill with pillow stuffing.
Use the yarn needle to loosely gather the top of the pumpkin. Before you pull the yarn tight, insert the short branch for the stem. Now pull the yarn tight and tie it off.
Use your yarn needle or crochet hook to tuck in the loose ends and finish your pumpkin.
Make several in different colors and display around the house for the fall season!
Print out small motivational verses or phrases on cardstock paper and use a hole punch. Depending on the size of your branches you used for the stems, you can just slip the card tags right over the stem.
Place them in a rustic basket and share them with your family and friends over the Thanksgiving holidays.
