College Prep Starts Now
Do you have a high school senior planning for college in the fall? If you do, then it’s time to start college prep now! It’s going to be August before we can even blink, so let’s start getting ready now so everything doesn’t hit all at the same time. Here are some tips for getting ready for college now while we are still several months away.

College Prep Starts Now
Ready or not, college move-in weekend will be here before we know it so now is the time to start buying supplies little by little so it won’t hit us all at once. The first month of college is not the time to be learning how to use new hair products or try out new gear.
Update Hair Products
Take a look at your senior’s hair products. Does she need a new curling iron/wand? Does she have a favorite hair spray or makeup that you should stock up on? Recently we received the Bombay Hair 5-in-1 curling wand set that gives my daughter tools to experiment with different waves and styles. We love the fact that the wands are interchangeable, meaning you save some serious drawer space!
Another one of our current favorites is the Sugar Scents BubbleGum Finishing spray. We had tried this spray last winter and really liked it but didn’t realize how much we loved it until we ran out. I went to the store and purchased a popular branded spray and quickly realized that it was leaving our hair sticky, crunchy and unmanageable. I quickly contacted Sugar Scents and ordered a replacement bottle. If you are looking for something that smells amazing and leaves your hair feeling good with a flexible hold, I encourage you to try this Sugar Scents Bubblegum Hair Spray!
Use Prom to Buy New Shoes
If your senior is heading to prom in the next few weeks, use this opportunity to buy shoes that they can wear throughout college. No sense in buying shoes that will only work for one event. Think about fashion and style but also remember that there will be multiple occasions to dress up during college so one pair of shoes now can serve multiple occasions.
Plan for Weekend Travel
One of the guaranteed experiences of college is weekend visits to friends houses, music tours, or sports events. Take a look at your senior’s backpack or duffel bag and make sure it is ready for a new season. It may be time to upgrade. My daughter loves this travel duffel bag from Urban Orginals and takes it on every weekend adventure. It was a nice step up from the inherited family bag that she used to carry.
A nice Kavu rope sling cross-body bag is another piece of luggage that every college student needs to keep all their activity gear in place for a quick adventure.
Equip them with a new Bible
We have already purchased one of our senior’s graduation gifts. We bought a new Bible and have begun passing it around between family members. Each of us uses it for a few days/weeks and highlights, underlines and makes notes of favorite verses. We will present it to her officially at graduation so she can take it with her to college. This is a great way to keep pouring into her spiritually as she begins a new chapter.
What are you doing now to prepare for your senior to move off to college? I’d love to hear your tips!
