Basics of Golf

I have played many games of mini-golf but never tried a real game on the golf course.  But I know that many people enjoy spending the day out on the course.  If you’re one of those people who want to get started in the great game of golf, there’s a few basics that you should know.

Basics of Golf

Golf can be one of the most beneficial sports in the entire world to get yourself into. Not only does it benefit you physically, but the social advantages are huge. Not only do many managers and company directors play golf but, clients and customers too.

As every football fan knows, there is nothing worse than being in a golfing office when everyone else knows their birdie from their sand dune; everyone that is, except yourself.

The great news is that golf has never been easier to get into. With the rules and regulations becoming ever more relaxed, coupled with the fact that the sport is also becoming cheaper; there has never been a better time to take up the sport.

Of course, there is absolutely no reason why you can’t enjoy some father and son (or daughter) time and enjoy the learn curve together. With training sessions available at the vast majority of clubs for relatively little price, your access to professional trainers has become just that little bit easier.

Besides this, after a couple of lessons, if for example you decide to teach yourself, very many golf clubs around the United Kingdom also have driving range facilities wherein you can perfect your swing at your own pace and to your own level. The great thing about doing this is that here you do not pay for the amount of time that you spend in the range; instead you pay by the amount of balls in which you use; giving you all the time (and perhaps balls) to swing your club.

Of course, before all this happens, you will also need a certain amount of equipment, which quite gladly, is also lessening in cost. But before you take out your lessons and sessions, here are a few of the crucial things that you need on the green.

Golf Clubs

A bit of an obvious one here, but a pertinent suggestion as you can now buy quality beginner sets for as little as £99 from online stores. If of course, you’re not too sure about shelling out a near possible £100, then verified second hand single clubs can also be purchased online for as little as £19.99

Golf Bags

Very possibly as important as the golf clubs themselves, it is advised that a good golf bag is purchased once that you feel that you are going to stick out the sport. This therefore means that you know how reliable your bag is on the green, and if bought for a particularly expensive price, can quite often be a once in a decade purchase.

Golf Balls

With so many golf balls on offer, from white right through to the silly multi coloured ones, you need to familiarise yourself with the balls so that you can identify them after are particularly long drive. Branded balls from Direct Golf for example, are a great way to begin your golfing career.

Golf Accessories

Just as important to any golfer, are the accessories that he takes with him to the green. Whether that consists of a simple umbrella to keep the rain away, or a hot canister of tea to keep him warm, they all come in handy.

If you fancy going away on a golfing holiday for example, a golfing cap or visor is a great way of keeping the sun out of your eyes, because if you forget your sunglasses, you may just find your performance affected.

Clothes

As far as clothes go, it is always best to switch on the television and see what the professionals are wearing.

These days, plain shirts and polo shirts with plain but bright colours are quite often worn by top professionals. If you’re looking for a tip, white leg wear is a no-no. Not because it isn’t allowed, but if it rains and you slip, you will very quickly see your white trousers turning into a darker shade of brown.

Do you love to golf? Got any great tips? I’d love to hear!
