5 Things We Should Replace Right Now

I recently read Cluttered Mess to Organized Success Workbook. This book is less of a sit-down read and more of a workbook to help each of us tackle one thing at a time and deal with the clutter in our lives. I have been going through the workbook little by little and finding ways to clean up ‘stuff’ that I just have sitting around. Most of these ideas aren’t new, but having them in a checklist format makes it super easy to get motivated and organized.

Personal Care Items

One of the easiest places to clean out clutter is our bathrooms. We all have many unused or half-filled bottles of lotion, makeup, sunscreen, and shampoo just sitting on the counter or stuffed in a drawer. Take 5 minutes and find 5 things to throw away. Look and see if any of your favorites need to be replaced and make a list for your next trip to the grocery.

Don’t forget to go through your drawers and closets. It might be time to replace underwear, socks or winter boots that you’ve had for way too many seasons.

Don’t feel like you have to stay with the same big box store brands you’ve bought all your life. Branch out and try something new like Mackenzie & Park Boxers – tagless labels, extra soft waistbands, curved front crotch design, and superior stitching that moves with you.

Old Towels

Look through your bath towels, washcloths and dish towels. Do you have any with holes, bleach spots or ragged edges? Toss them in the rag bucket and replace them with something fresh and clean.

Tip: If you know how to crochet or knit, you can make new washcloths in about 30 minutes! Now you are using something that is not only pretty and functional but also handmade that you can be proud of!

Toothbrushes

Did you know that dentists recommend replacing your toothbrush every three months (more frequently if you have recently been sick)? Toss your old toothbrush and do an upgrade.

Dr Plotka’s toothbrushes have embedded silver in a every toothbrush which acts as an anti-microbial agent. The silver naturally kills bacteria that accumulate and multiply on its surface after brushing. Within several hours, the tooth brush bristle will be 99% free of the bacteria that may cause illness, tooth decay and gum disease.

What can you do with the old toothbrush? Use them for cleaning around your faucets, as plant markers in the garden, for cleaning your nails or countless other projects.

Pillows

Experts seem to have a mixed opinion about how long pillows will last but if you can’t remember when you last replaced your pillow, it may be time to buy a new one! Then do something creative with your old one. You can cover it with a new pillow sham and decorate your guest bed or pull out the inside cotton so you can restuff a bean bag or craft project.

Dish Scrubbers

Dish scrubbers are a perfect place to hide bacteria so make sure you toss and replace these periodically. They don’t cost much, so toss your old ones and buy something new!

What are some things you need to toss and replace this month? Are you working toward a clutter free life? I’d love to hear your favorite tips!
