5 Things We Forgot to Send to College
We’re almost two months into the college experience for our freshman and there are a few things we forgot to send on move-in day. We are fortunate that our freshman is not that far away so we collected these things and sent them back when we saw her recently. Maybe you have already thought of these things but if not, here’s a quick list of a few things you might want to send to your freshman.

5 Things We Forgot to Send to College
Easy Snacks/Meals
College cafeterias provide three basic meals but what do students do if they are out at an event and need something to eat after the cafeteria is closed? Sure, your student may have some flex dollars to spend at local on-campus restaurants but having something hot to pop in a microwave or eat on the go is a great solution. I ran over to our local Dollar General store to pick up some easy options. There are many options that don’t require a refrigerator or cooking.
Cutting Board for Apples
If your student loves fresh fruit, they might be missing out at the college cafeteria. A cheap cutting board will provide options for apples. You can also pick up the fruit cups that will provide healthy snacks late at night.
Non-plug-in Scents
Some college dorms have regulations on plug-in scent options. Send along some air fresheners to help keep their dorm room smelling fresh.
Collapsible Travel Bags
Dorm rooms aren’t known for having extra space but students still need options to carry things back and forth to class, activities, and on weekend adventures. If your student loves to travel as much as ours does, then a USA travel-themed bag may be the perfect addition.
When Xploring requires some toting – consider doing it in style with our Xplorer Maps reusable canvas tote bags. Generously sized at 18″ wide by 15″ tall, they’ll pack enough for a day at the beach or a trip to the grocery store.
Goodbye single-use plastic bags – now can take your favorite place WITH you again and again.

Puzzles & Games
Some colleges have a game room or dorm common area where the students can gather to play games and watch movies. You might want to send a puzzle with their favorite destination.
These map art puzzles make perfect gifts and souvenirs for the traveler, nature-lover or natural park enthusiast and can be framed for permanent display. Each puzzle is packaged in a classy display box and includes a 20″ x 15″ poster for easy reference.
