Over the past few years, our family has taken some epic road trips. From Montana to Maryland, California to South Carolina and everywhere in between, the United States is a beautiful country. When you think of beautiful places in the United States, what comes to your mind? From the flatlands of Kansas to the rolling hills of Kentucky you can find the most amazing scenic places to make memories and create adventures with your family and friends.

Chimney Bluffs State Park

Located on Lake Ontario near Rochester, New York, Chimney Bluffs State Park is one of the most unique places you will visit. Pack a picnic lunch, wear your walking shoes and make sure your phone is charged. You’re going to take a lot of pictures!

Monument Rocks

Drive about 30 minutes south of the interstate in central Kansas and you will discover one of the most amazing natural formations in the middle of the flat farmland. Take plenty of water, because it’s hot, dry and away from all civilization. Monument Rocks is a free national wonder that is well worth your time!

Garden of the Gods

Just minutes outside of Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods is a free park where you can drive and enjoy the beauty from your car or park and explore on foot. Enjoy views of the impressive Pikes Peak as you explore the area.

Indiana Dunes State Park

Indiana Dunes State Park is located on Lake Michigan right outside Chicago. There are 3 main dunes that you can climb. We climbed Mt. Tom which is the tallest of the 3 dunes in the park at 192 feet. It may not seem very high when you stand at the bottom, but as soon as you take just a few steps in the deep sand, you know you are in for a fun climb!

Indiana Dunes State Park

Falls Park – Sioux Falls

If you love waterfalls, then you absolutely must visit Sioux Falls and explore Falls Park. Located right in the middle of the city, this free park is a perfect spot to enjoy the day, have a picnic or watch the sunset.

Cumberland Falls

No trip to Kentucky is complete without a visit to the 125-foot-wide cascade known as Cumberland Falls, or the “Niagara of the South. Take an easy walk out to the overlook or spend more time exploring on the hiking trails.

The Badlands

Badlands National Park is more than dry canyons. A drive through the Badlands will bring you up close to some of the most beautiful views in the United States. (Use your National Park pass to visit for no fee!)

Kings Canyon

Walk through Grant Grove and enjoy the world’s second largest Sequoia tree in the world at Kings Canyon. The General Grant Tree is an impressive tree that really makes you stand back in awe.

El Matador State Park

The beaches in California are not the same kind of beaches as those on the Atlantic Ocean, but they offer something amazing for everyone. Whether you love taking pictures of the rock formations and natural bridges or prefer to search for sea urchins in the tide pools, you’re going to love El Matador State Beach near Malibu, California.

Needles Highway

Needles Highway is an impressive 14 mile stretch of road that includes sharp turns, narrow tunnels, granite spires and world class views. Definitely one of the most beautiful scenic routes you will ever drive.
