We have stopped at the Colonel Sanders Cafe and Museum several times while out exploring Kentucky. The food has always been hot and fresh and the atmosphere is just unique. How many places can you eat your food in a modern restaurant while enjoying the feel of a legend?

The birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken is located in Corbin, KY. One of the highlights, of course, is the opportunity to can sit beside a life-size Colonel Sanders. When we were there yesterday, we didn’t realize that we were recreating an earlier picture from 2013! What fun memories with the kids!

Every time we have been there, we have been amazed at the ethnic diversity of the diners. I guess people all over the world know and love KFC, so it just makes sense that this would be a widely visited spot.

You can take a look at what the original kitchen would have looked like when Colonel Sanders birthed his idea for Kentucky Fried Chicken!  Can’t you just imagine how popular this would have been back in the early 1930’s?

Directions

  • From I-75 take exit 25, go north on Cumberland Falls Hwy (US 25W) for approximately 2 miles, then turn left onto Main Street.
  • From Main Street, turn left on US 25, at the overpass. Follow 25 roughly one mile. Sanders Cafe will be on the left.

The prices are the same as any KFC, but it’s the atmosphere and decor that make it worth the stop! There is no charge to view the displays and memorabilia.
