More Super Easy Scarf Options

|

If you’re like me (and my crafting friends), we’ve made about all the super easy ruffle scarves we can handle. All our friends have one and the local big box store can’t keep the yarn in stock. So this past week, my 2 crafting friends and I have been branching out. We’ve been looking for some more easy scarf options.

Making the ruffle scarf using Sashay Yarn with a crochet hook is a snap. It takes me about 1 hour to make a crochet ruffle scarf. You can see my tips and super easy ruffle scarf ideas here. My friend Kayelynn decided to try to make the same scarf with knitting needles. We were all amazed that the knitting needles turned out a complete different look. It’s the same yarn, but a new scarf!

Twist and Twirl Yarn

There is another type of ruffle yarn called Bernat Twist ‘n Twirl Yarn. It has much smaller netting and creates a much smaller ruffle. It works well with the same basic pattern. Kayelynn used a crochet hook for this yarn. Instead of actually counting and skipping one hole each time, she just kind of ‘guestimated’ about the same distance for each loop. It is much too small to actually figure out how many loops you are skipping.

Pomp-a-doodle Yarn

Another really easy way to create a scarf is to use Pomp-A-Doodle Yarn. This yarn is basically just a long skein of pom poms. There are spaces between each of the little balls. Kayelynn just used a single crochet chain and created this very simple scarf. She told me that it took her about 10 minutes from start to finish! Talk about easy!

  1. Love the scarf with the twist and twirl. What pattern would I use to make one? Have used the regular ruffle yarn- doing crochet- and I put 8 loops on the hook and then pull through. This gives a fair amount of ruffle to the scarf. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Hard to find crochet info- everything is knitting.
