Family Party Time #MealsTogether #cbias

My extended family didn’t get together on Christmas this year, but we sure know how to fill a house for New Years weekend. We all knew we wanted our time together to be big on fun and fellowship, without the food part of our time taking up alot of work or energy. Usually when we get together my sister brings some specialty dishes and I round out the table with chips, drinks and maybe some cookies. But this year, I wanted to make our family party time a little more special. I had plans to find something a little fancier for our snacks – like bruschetta!

Family Party Time

I took the family to Sams Club to see what I could find. I have a friend who had told me about Daily Chef Bruschetta and how easy it was to take the little bread slices out of the freezer, bake them for a few minutes and serve them. I couldn’t wait to try them out.

Sams Club had two different types of Bruschetta – Spinach with Artichoke and Chicken with Bacon. Since this is the first time to try these, I decided to go with the Chicken with bacon.

Of course, when I go to Sams, I always find a few more things than I plan. Hawaiian Punch was on sale for less than a $1.00! I couldn’t pass that up!

Family Time

When we got to Grandma’s house, all I had to was preheat the oven and pop the Bruschetta in for 11 minutes. My brother of course who is a stickler for setting the timer was able to tease me pretty good when he realized that I had forgotten to set the timer – just like I have for my entire life. But they turned out great.

You have to remember that when I cook something for a family party, my family is used to it being something very traditional. My Dad was a little confused as to what I was offering him – a cookie? pizza? What is this, Sharon?

It was fun to be able to bring something tasty, simple and fun to our family get together. With 18 in the immediate family unit, the box of Bruschetta disappeared quickly. Even the kids were convinced to try it out!
